The dreaded wedding timeline

Bridal Show_0039

One of the most dreaded tasks I had to tackle when I was planning my wedding was the inevitable wedding day timeline. Ugh. So much to include. I really had no idea how long it would take for us to get our hair done, or how long we needed for pictures, and I had fairly little guidance in creating this master plan.  It’s something we really don’t think about until the ceremony and reception time have been set and invitations have been sent. Now as a wedding photographer I know that it’s something that you should think about well before you set your ceremony time so you can maximize your photo taking time and enjoy your reception.

Now a days with everything online, you have no doubt come across half a dozen or so suggestions for wedding day timelines. Various vendors have different reasons for making the suggestions that they do. I thought I would share with you two versions of my suggested timeline for photography that I share with my couples. These timelines allow for maximum picture taking time, but also takes into account that things sometimes (really almost always) run late! You want to get great pictures on your wedding day, but you also want to have fun! Before you try to work with these timelines I would suggest that you first have an idea of the following:
1.         Do the bride and groom want to do a first look before the wedding (if no, use timeline 2).

2.        What time does sun set on your wedding day.

3.         What time does your venue close

Of course these are just suggestions. Make sure you check in with all of your vendors to make sure what you are planning is doable.
